Google Analytics for pdf direct link downloads

Is there any solution to track pdf files downloaded from direct downloads? We can track easily if the download happens from our web page, but what if the download happens from a direct link or a search engine search result? Also we are on a IIS server, and cannot use PHP based solution. Is there any php free solution anyone is aware to track direct links tracking?
