How to do SEO for a social media platform?

If you are a new social media platform & to start SEO, how to go ahead?
Apart from Keywords, Title, Meta description etc, should they have robots.txt, sitemap etc?

I am a bit confused with how they did SEO for a social media platform like Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest etc. I mean how they started?
Are these social media platforms well organised with all SEO check-list?
