Myspace - This Question Is Bothering Me

I can't take it anymore! I finally have to ask.

How is myspace a marketing tool? What's all this hoopla with having myspace accounts with 5,000 or so friends? I use myspace-not a lot but occasionally- and I just don't see it.

So you create a profile, randomly and people as friends and then what....how does that add any value to your business?

I would really appreciate it if someone explained this to me because I have been wondering for awhile.
