What's the best traffic generator? Forum posts or organic traffic from search engines

Wondering whether generating traffic from forums and bulletin boards relevant to my site will generate better, more interested and more targeted traffic than the traffic I've generated from people reaching my site from search engines like Google, Yahoo, etc. What's your take? Have you found that users from relevant forums generate more clicks & revenue?
